In reply, we bought the house we did because of the size of the garden, the quiet road and the lovely bird life in Delta. I have to say i would give all this up in a heart beat, just to feel safe again. I admit we are parnoid, the children arn't allowed in the back garden alone. And all the doors and gates are closed 24/7 so we don't even hear the birds. I think it is disgusting that as rate payers (of a "good" suberb) we are subject to the amount of VIOLENT crime we have every day. Its just not fair at all. *sulk*

We have been very lucky that after 13 years in the same house we have still not experienced any crime (here) personally. I do worry about being next so I joined brac. I think it is a great idea and we must encourage everyone we know to get involved! Ofcourse I am not happy that we have to live like this but we have to be realistic and realise that the crime problem will not and cannot be solved overnight. We have a very large unemployed population and we have created a very intolerant society in South Africa. For as long as our history books go back people in South Africa have taken what they need, if neccesary by force. I am happy to take some of the money I am saving in tax since the drop in tax rates and put this to my own security.
Thanks BRAC

Thank you for your comments. We are just trying our best!
If all the residents joined forces we would win the war against crime!
Have a great 2004.

We've only been in Blairgowrie for a year and I'm positive in that time I've seen a drop in crime - and I'm sure that it's mostly due to BRAC. You've only got to read the crime pages in the Randburg Sun to see how little Blairgowrie features nowadays. We don't live in fear of our lives, but we do take precautious which is only sensible.
