Johnannesburg - A 70-year-old man was shot dead in Linden at the weekend before his 54-year-old wife was driven away and raped, Johannesburg police said on Monday. The couple were asleep around 04:00, when the woman heard noises in the roof, Superintendent Chris Wilken said. The women went to the kitchen and saw a hole in the roof. She went back and called her husband. He went to investigate and was shot four times by an intruder, Wilken said. The woman was put into the couple's stolen car, driven to an area near the Emmarentia Dam and raped. After the attacker fled, the woman walked back to her home and found her husband dead in the kitchen.
