Some time between Monday evening and this morning, my Silver Bengal cat, Missy, was run down by a motorist in Barkston Drive.
She is our third in 2 years cat to be lost in this brutal manner. It would also have been a simple manner for the driver to just ring either out or our neighbour's intercom and let someone know what had happened. Instead, she was left on the side of the road to die alone in the cold.
May the callous b@st@rd who hit her (and you know exactly who you are), have sleepless nights until he/she has the guts to approach us with an apology!!
Barkston Drive appears to have become a "shortcut" to those wishing to access Conrad drive, and has become a death trap due to the excessive speed of motorists.
Although we have a pedestrian crossing which is used by large numbers of Blairgowrie Primary children, NOBODY SEEMS TO STOP AT IT!!!! On occasions when I have personally walked my children home from school, it has taken up to 20 minutes just to cross Barkston Drive, directly opposite my own driveway.
We as residents must do something about this!! How logn will it be before one of our children is killed on this road?
Can someone not assist with a petition for JMPD officers to set up speedtraps in barkston Drive occasionally? They would make a small fortune in income over a period of a merely 3 or 4 hours!!!! if they require "parking" I would even be more than happy for them to use my driveway.
How much longer do we have to put up with this "speedway" outside or front doors??
ONLY UNTIL WE COLLECTIVELY MAKE AN EFFORT TO PUT AN END TO IT!!
Who's willing to stand up and be counted on this?
